An experienced and qualified Auditor, Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor, Charlie joined our Dubai team in May 2024. His role is to work closely with Sanctoras clients, as well as our teams in both Dubai and the UK, to enhance the depth and quality of in-house advice Sanctoras can offer.  

Beginning his career as a junior auditor at a ‘Top 10’ professional services firm, Charlie progressed to work across several senior positions. He has extensive experience of leading audits and audit teams across a range of industries - from hospitality and financial services to oil and shipping.  

Following 5 years at the ‘coal face’ of audit - if there can be said to be such a thing! - Charlie qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA)  with the Chartered Institute of Taxation, shifting his focus to a particular professional passion of his, Corporate Tax (CT) and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A). 

Within CT and M&A Charlie’s specialist areas include: group restructuring, deal advisory, international expansion, vendor and purchaser due diligence, cross-border compliance, HMRC disputes and tax accounting. Since this shift in attention he has gained valuable insight into the complexities of transactional tax matters and developed a deep understanding of the interplay between corporate tax strategies and business objectives. 

Since moving to Dubai in 2023 - soon after the UAE Corporate Tax announcements - Charlie has been laser focussed on building a strong understanding of the new UAE Corporate Tax legislation and numerous subsequent Cabinet decisions and practice guides. This understanding makes him an excellent advisor for clients both based in the UAE and those internationally who have a connection to the UAE, many of whom may never have had to consider taxation before.  

We are so delighted that Charlie is joining us. Bringing with him such a valuable range of expertise - across audit, UAE Corporate Tax and Mergers and Acquisitions - he will add significant strength to our dedicated Private Client Advisory team and spearhead our burgeoning Corporate and Business Tax Advisory offering.

Outside of work, Charlie loves soaking up the sun - when it’s not too hot - going to the gym and pretty much watching any type of sport. Particularly Formula 1 - making the UAE the perfect spot for Charlie from both a professional and leisure perspective.
